Blenheim
Palace - Tattoo and Country Fair
In
2005, Blenheim Palace played host to a spectacular
annual tattoo and country fair in the grounds of this most magnificent
of country estates.
Set in the heart
of Oxfordshire next to the beautiful village of Woodstock and with
the beating drums of the first Duke of Marlborough echoing around
its magnificent façade, Blenheim Palace was the perfect
setting for this rural and military extravaganza.
The
Blenheim Palace Tattoo and Country Fair took
place over three days, Friday 15th – Sunday 17th July, and is believed to have attracted over
30,000 visitors.
The Country
Fair had a main arena (The Churchill Arena); a Market Square,
offering the very best in traditional country produce and crafts;
and five outlying areas which were strongly themed for those
interested in classic vehicles, country living, horticulture, field
sports, animals and, of course, shopping.
When this event was announced
His Grace The Duke of Marlborough said “With
the outstanding success of the CLA Game Fair here at Blenheim last
summer, it was evident to us that there is a huge demand for just
such an event to be held on an annual basis at Blenheim. Our celebrations
surrounding the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Blenheim proved
equally successful and it made sense to combine these two highly
successful events into the new Blenheim Palace Tattoo and Country
Fair. We look forward to the launch of this event in July and to
creating a wonderful opportunity for everyone to enjoy the powerful
combination of country and military life”
